Tips for Displaying Your USDOT Number Lettering Decals | A Must Read Basic USDOT Guide
If you’re a new trucker, it can be very intimidating knowing what to display outside of your first commercial vehicle. Follow these basic tips for displaying your USDOT number decals correctly.
The first thing to keep in mind is that your lettering such as your USDOT, company name, MC, GVW or any regulation number that is applicable to you must be a minimum of 2 inches in height. While 2 inches in the bare minimum, we recommend displaying your information larger. Your lettering must be visible from at least 50 feet away and your lettering must contrast with the color of your vehicle.
We always recommend being USDOT & FMCSA compliant by displaying all of the numbers that are applicable to you. If you’re in California, you must display a CA number et cetera.
Avoid displaying your lettering on paper, cardboard or markers as this is unprofessional and it could potentially fall off leaving you unprotected.
