USDOT Number Position Requirements | Where To Place Your Custom US DOT Number Decal Sticker On Your Commercial Vehicle
There are a few places where you can display your US DOT number outside of your commercial vehicle.
If you have a pickup truck or a dually, you can display your usdot number and other information such as MC, CA number on your truck door. Some hot shot truckers tend to display their lettering on back passenger door window.
If you drive a semi truck (big rig) you have a few more options when it comes to displaying your usdot number. If you are driving a big rig, most likely you’ll need to display your MC, GVW, VIN, KYU, CA number.
You can display your regulation numbers with your logo on the truck door. You can also display your registration numbers in the storage box area, this is usually best if you are driving a Freightliner. Also, you can display your numbers on the step area or the fuel tanks.
All of these areas are USDOT compliant.
A few tips to keep in mind is that your USDOT number and other regulation numbers must be 2 inches in height, must be visible from 50 feet away, must be on both sides and the color must contrast with the color of your commercial vehicle.
