Are you in the process of ordering custom US DOT decals for your new truck?  Not to worry, we are here to answer a few questions you might have.

Your USDOT number font should be a strong, clear and easy to read font. You can use font types such as Arial, Bebas, Times New Roman, or any san serif typefaces. The goal is to make sure your USDOT number and any other regulation numbers you need to display is clearly visible and easy to read. This gives the DOT officers or DOT cameras an easy time reading and inputting your regulation numbers into their database. You want to avoid script fonts that are difficult to read such as cursive style fonts.

Also, we recommend displaying your USDOT numbers professionally to make easier for you, the DOT officers or any authority that might stop you. This will save you time and headaches throughout the course of your trucking career.

A few other things to keep in mind are to make sure you display your USDOT number on both sides of your commercial vehicle in a 2-inch lettering. Your lettering must be visible from a distance of at least 50 feet away. Also, your lettering color must contrast with the color of your vehicle for easy readability.

Do you need a USDOT number? Are you debating if you want to display your USDOT number on a magnetic sheet or a professional die cut decal?

You would want to display your USDOT number on a magnet if you use your vehicle for both personal and business use. You might use your dually to pick up kids from school and haul loads, this is perfect for being DOT compliant when you need to. Also, some HOA associations don’t let vehicles have any lettering, so it’s perfect for displaying your info whenever you need it.

If you are a professional trucker and have a vehicle dedicated for trucking, then you would want to go the decal route. Decals are not coming off easy and look very professional. Decals withstand heat, rain, snow and are meant for professional use.

A few things to keep in when selecting your USDOT number is that it must be visible from a distance of at least 50 feet away and your lettering must be 2 inches in height or larger. Your lettering must also contrast for easy readability. You almost must display your us dot number on both sides of the vehicle and the color must contrast with the color of your commercial vehicle.
